Once the distillation operation is completed, the coffee is extracted by admitting hot water, such as from about 320 F.

Conventionally, instant coffee is prepared by roasting and grinding a blend of coffee beans, extracting the roast and ground coffee with water to form an aqueous coffee extract, and drying the extract to form the instant coffee product.
